It can be scary to tackle a new platform. If you don’t do it right, you might quickly decide that it’s not the “right” platform for you and miss out on the many benefits it could have offered you!
Often, people give up on Pinterest simply because they don’t understand how to use it — or, more frequently, because they tried to use it before they were truly ready.
Everybody is different, so choosing to commit to Pinterest for business is a personal decision and should come at your own pace. However, based on my experience, there are a few simple ways to tell when it’s the perfect time to get started!
Ways to Tell It’s Time to Start Using Pinterest
1) When you feel ready to tackle it
This first one is simple. It’s up to you. Do you feel ready to take on a new challenge? Are you ready to tackle a platform you haven’t used before? If you’re feeling energized and excited, then now is the time to get started.
If you approach Pinterest with trepidation or apathy, then you’re going to burn out on it quickly and you might prematurely decide it’s not the right platform for you. But, the truth is, if you’re not giving it 100%, then you won’t see results. So, it’s best to wait until you’re completely ready to jump into a new challenge before starting to use Pinterest.
When you feel ready, you’ll see amazing results.
2) When you have the time to do it on your own
Getting results from Pinterest takes time. You have to have the time in your schedule to invest into creating an online marketing strategy, creating your Pinterest for business account, and dedicating time to creating content on Pinterest that generates organic traffic. It’s a lot! But it’s rewarding.
If that doesn’t sound like something you have time for right now, then it might not be the right time to try Pinterest.
Overall, you should understand that using Pinterest for business is a time commitment and it will become part of your daily schedule or routine. Figure out how much you’ve got on your plate and if Pinterest fits into your schedule before deciding to try the platform for yourself.
3) When you have the budget to hire someone to do it for you
If you don’t have the time to handle Pinterest yourself, then you better have the budget to hire someone to do it for you. If you can afford to hire a professional who can get your Pinterest account off the ground, then now might be the right time to try Pinterest.
While we’re talking about money, it’s important to note that you might not make any money off Pinterest for the next few months. And that’s OK! Working with Pinterest is an investment in the long term. It typically takes about three months to see Pinterest results, but you can see results sooner if you’re willing to put in the work. You may not see results right away, but the time and money you put into the platform now will ensure your success in the long run.
If you choose to allocate some of your budget to hiring someone to manage Pinterest for you, just keep in mind that you may not make that money back right away. But, if you do it right, you’ll make it back just a short way down the road.
That being said, don’t put your money into something you can’t afford! It’s better to wait until you feel truly comfortable investing in this profitable platform.
4) When you’ve established a way to monetize online
If you have a website, products you’re sponsoring, or even an email list, Pinterest can be a great way to start generating traffic toward whatever it is you’re selling.
No matter what, you need a product for Pinterest, so it’s important to have established something you’re monetizing online prior to trying to get up and running on the Pinterest platform. That way, you can design your Pinterest marketing strategy around whatever it is you’re looking to sell or accomplish.
Are YOU Ready for Pinterest?
If you’ve accomplished any combination of these four objectives, then it might be the perfect time for you to start using Pinterest for your business. Pinterest can help you rank higher on Google, drive traffic to your brand or website, and even help you develop SEO strategies. It’s a highly rewarding platform if you’re willing to put in a little time, effort, and investment — and especially if you’re OK with waiting for results!
