It happens to everyone. One day, you’re on top of the Pinterest charts. Then, you wake up and find that your audience is dwindling! It’s a confusing and stressful situation when you find your Pinterest views dropping, especially when you rely on Pinterest for your business.
Fortunately, this event isn’t random. There are reasons that your views are dropping, and there are things you can do to fix those numbers! Today, I’ll be going over the top reasons for dwindling Pinterest views and how you can fix them.
Know What People Are Looking For
One of the biggest reasons that your Pinterest score may be dropping is a lack of interest.
The internet is always changing. Pinterest isn’t going to have the same top topic for a whole year! You want to track the changes over time and keep up with what people want to see.
That means you’ll need to do some research, utilize Pinterest trends. Take time to see what people are looking for and start to incorporate that into your videos. If people are looking for butterflies, then start to add more of that into your content if you can. Likewise, if people are losing interest in your current crafts or projects, try uploading different content

Know Who to Target
Another reason for lower views is the algorithm.
Pinterest tends to recommend people that they think will bring in views. This is what keeps the platform going, and it’s what makes content fresh. To cater to this, you’ll need to focus on engagement. When you notice some videos are gaining more saves, start to create similar content!
You want people to engage with your pins, and you want those people to be part of your target audience. This is what tells Pinterest that your content is fresh and relevant, and it keeps you from falling behind.

Keep an Eye on Changes
Internally, Pinterest is always tinkering with its algorithm. Sometimes, this results in lower views. Don’t panic!
This is often temporary. What you need to do is find out why your views dropped and correct the issue. Sometimes, this is as simple as adjusting some keywords. Other times, you’ll need to learn new tricks.
Regardless of what the reasoning may be, it’s your job to adapt. Make use of the tools you have and evaluate your past performance. Taking a look at your past few months of posts can really help you pinpoint where your content is beginning to lag.
Take a close look at your engagement and exposure. Sometimes, changes to the algorithm will “reset” recommendations. In other words, you’ll find that fewer people are being shown your Pins. If this is the case, then it’s time for you to dig a little.
That doesn’t mean that you should investigate every little piece of the puzzle. Instead, focus on the most important parts of your posts. Find out what makes people save and engage, and keep doing it. That’s how you’ll rise to the top, and it’s how you’ll stay there.
You’ll always want to periodically refresh your keywords. Again, people change! Trends go in and out and making sure that your keywords are relevant will help your page stay near the top of the search results.

Panicking Doesn’t Help
Finally: Don’t panic! If you’re going to have a meltdown every time your viewership fluctuates, then Pinterest is not for you! This is a very unique social media platform, and that means you’ll be seeing constant changes. Sometimes, there’s nothing you can do about it!
That’s okay! Your views will invariably fluctuate according to people’s moods, the time of the year, and current events. You can’t have complete control over the world, so you’ll never be able to perfectly predict the future.
Instead, focus on maintaining your numbers. A temporary dip in views is fine, and it’s part of the social media cycle. Don’t worry!
